A little stamping here… a little stamping there…

Okay, March was the month of the stamp for me!

pix1 I loved this one!  I love a french gradient.  I could do an entire month of manicures, doing nothing but variations of french manicures.

I used Bubble Bath and Alpine Snow, two OPI polishes that are old standbys for a reason.

Word of warning, it took more than once or twice to get this gradient at the level I wanted.

Stamping was done using my usual favorite stamping plate, UberChic’s 1-02.

I used my Konad double stamper.

Now, I finally had some luck using a different stamper!!  Alert the media!!  I ordered a clear jelly stamper from a place which happens to be called, clearjellystamper.  I used the Infinite Flower plate.

The base of this manicure is OPI’s Show Us Your Tips from the New Orleans collection.

All polishes used on this manicure are OPI, and there are too many to name!!

Lastly, is the one I called a nail fail!!

Why?  It is too goophy!!  I don’t know how it got to be so thick and icky, but it did!!  The gradient was done with all OPI colors, Alpine Snow, Suzi Shops & Island Hops, Kiss Me I’m Brazilian.

Stamping was done with my trusty Konad double stamper.  I used both Rica’s Blackout and Uber Chic stamping plate 1-1.

Ta – da!!!!

Fashion Inspiration

I have always enjoyed thumbing through Vogue, and other fashion magazines.  Now, I am in no way in the market for anything that magazine sells, but I still love looking at all the amazingly creative ideas that come from today’s fashion industry.  Sure, there is lots wrong with the fashion industry, but that does not stop me from drooling over shoes and bags and dresses and tops.

The latest edition of Vogue had a lovely dress that caught the eye of the maniac nail artist in me…

The Kaylee dress is by Antonio Melani.  I saw it and all I could think was, “GRADIENT!”

And I was off to my helmers, to find the near perfect polish to try and copy this look.  It took four polishes, but I think I did a pretty good job!

I started with one of my newest polish finds, Serendipity in Peace Love and Sandy Feet.  This is a really lovely peachy, nude-neutral which I need to wear all by itself soon.    Then I did the gradient with all four polishes: Serendipity in Peace Love, OPI in Get Myself into a Jam-balaya, Zoya in Dot and essie back in the limo!

I used UberChic Collection 5, plate 3 for the stamping design along with Rica’s Whiteout.

I topped it off with HKGirl by Glisten & Glow.

Okay, I know this is my own work, but I really liked this manicure!!  First of all, I usually suck at gradients, and I was beyond pleased with myself that I managed to successfully translate the look of dress onto my nail.  But I also just thought it was a very pretty manicure!

What do you think?

Stamping Machine!

No, there is no new stamping machine on the market, I am referring to myself of late.  I wanted to share two manicures, both done with my slightly improved stamping skills…

This first manicure features polish from OPI’s newest collection – New Orleans.  This collection is actually referred to as Spring – Summer 2016, so I predict we won’t be seeing any large collections until Fall/Winter.  I am sure OPI will delight us with some smaller collection until such time.

The base for this manicure is a lovely Let Me Bayou a Drink and stamping was done in Spare Me a French Quarter.

Lately, I have been topping my manicures with KB Shimmer’s Clearly On Top Quick Dry Top Coat.   My stamping design is from UberChic stamping plate Collection 5, plate number 2.

My next manicure features one of my favorite indie polishes, Enchanted Polish.  Now, these polishes are as amazing, as they are difficult to purchase!!

These polishes sell out unbelievably fast!  I am pleased to announce I was able to purchase all twelve months of 2015!!  This little gem to the right, is August 2015.  I added a stamping design from the same plate, UberChic stamping plate Collection 5, plate 2.

My stamping polish Rica’s Blackout, if you are stamping and you do not have any of Rica’s stamping polishes – RUN, don’t walk to your computer and order some of her amazing polishes!  I love giving my hard earn dollars to small businesses, especially those that are run by women.

I have to say, the Enchanted Polish price is not for the faint of heart… but these polishes are very unique and oh, the formula!!!  The only polish with a better formula is Dior.  And Dior does not come out with such amazing color palate!

What do you think?

Cinderella – all the way around!

Have you ever done a manicure and thought, “Yeah, it’s okay.”

And you post on it on Instagram, and everyone LOVES it!!

I finally got a chance to play with my new Fairytale-01 – UberChic Nail Stamping Plate.  I had some amazing nail fails of epic proportion while using this plate on several occasions.  Now, the fault of all nail fails lies right here with me y’all, don’t go hating the plate!!

pix2I started with Sinful Color’s Cinderella on my middle and ring finger.  Then I used OPI’s My Favorite Ornament on the rest of my digits.

I used the Fairytale plate for the Cinderella and the wording.

I used my Love Love and Marriage 01 – Stamping Plate for the rest of the fingers.

Then, I used an old standby, Seche Vite to set the manicure quickly, before I managed to screw it up!  With so much stamping, I was fully ready to screw up one of my nails.  But, ta-da!!

I like this manicure, I was just shocked at the love it received.  I am not complaining, just a little surprised!!

A little Glisten & Glow

Oh, how I do love a sparkly manicure!

One of my favorite sparkly nail polishes has been discontinued!  Gasp!  Oh, the horror!! (I love how this freaks me out… like I do not have a million other sparkly polishes!)

Mirrorball by Orly, is one of those rare polishes which managed to actually live up to the social media hype!  It was all over the place, so I was fully prepared to be disappointed when I finally got my hands on it.  Surprise!  I loved it!!

And lucky for me, one of my peeps on Insta-crack gave us Atlanta ladies the heads up on Mirrorball’s discontinuance.  And she also gave me the 411 on Sally’s Beauty Supply clearance sale.  So, I was able to score, not one, but two Mirrorballs!!  And for the low price of $2.10 each!!  All clearance was an additional seventy-five percent off.  I love those sales!

pix1So, I started with Glisten & Glow It was all a Dream (please note the absence of a link, because, like Mirrorball, this color is no longer available, as it was a part of The Holo Hookup November box!!).

On my ring finger I added that gem, Mirrorball by Orly.

Then, I decided I needed a little something, so I pulled out my stamping kit.  I am still trying to get my clear stamper to work, but lucky for me, my trusty Konad Double Ended Stamper works like a champ!  I used the UberChic stamping plate Collection 1-03, with my Rica Blackout Stamping Polish.  And again – I LOVE UberChic stamping plates.

On top, I used Glisten & Glow’s HK Girl Top Coat.

Warning, I had a little bit of staining on my nails due to the high pigment of It was all a Dream, but it came off – easy peasey!  My usual manicure routine washed that staining right off my nails!!

What do you think?  Will you miss Mirrorball??  I am still in mourning over Glistening Snow by China Glaze!  I never did get my hands on one of those bastards!!

Call Off the Search Part II

Last year I found the perfect creamy baby pink nail polish – and it became opaque in 2 coats!

It was a banner day!!  Peachtree Polish’s Pink Dogwood  by Bonny’s Beauty is the perfect baby-pink cream nail polish, opaque in 2 coats, although some say you can even get this polish opaque in one coat!!

I was thrilled to find this polish!  I cannot begin to count how many polishes I purchased in the hopes of finding an opaque baby pink, and instead I have gobs and gobs and oh yes, gobs of sheer baby pink polishes!!

And now, I have another true nail polish find…the perfect bright pink nail polish!!  Instacrack, or Instagram, I saw a manicure done with Serendipity’s Pink Poinsettia, and it took my breath away!!

It’s so pretty!!  It is opaque in one coat, but you know me ladies, I gotta do at least two or I start shaking!

It goes on like a dream!  Formula is awesome, color is rich and fully pigmented.  I even love the damn bottle this polish comes in!!  I love a heavy bottle, I don’t know why, I just do!!

Even though this polish easily stands all my itself, I had to do a black and white accent nail.

I used OPI’s old standby, Alpine White and added some zebra stripes in You Can Never Have Too Mani Friends.  Of course I used Twinkled T’s zebra vinyls.

And my top coat was a free gift from Serendipity, Finishing Touch.

Do you like?  I like it!!  Have a great day!

Last of the Valentine’s Day Manicures and a Sale!!

I am not a huge Valentine’s Day lady.  My hubby is one of those one in a million men who always do sweet things for me (no, I have no clue how I managed to score such a gem, except I am nice to him).   Why is my guy the best?

  1. Tim brings me flowers for no reason at all;
  2. Tim will fetch me a diet coke when I am working on my nail art and I am too lazy to walk downstairs to the kitchen;
  3. He scratches my back;
  4. He loves my mother who lives with us (but Marge is a gem too, so she is easy to love);
  5. He is an amazing father to our special needs son.

So, Valentine’s Day is not necessary for us to express our affection for one another, but it give me a chance to do lots of girly nail art!!

pix1I adore Zoya’s PixieDust Nail Lacquer.  I mean, it rocks!!  It lasts forever and is so easy to apply.

I used Noir and Tomoko, both PixieDust Nail Lacquer for my manicure.  The heart cyclone is from Twinkled T.  I really enjoy using these vinyls!  The selection from Twinkled T is awesome!!

Now, here is the exciting news… Zoya’s having a buy one, get one free sale !!  So do the math kids, polish comes out to be about $5 each – call the cops!!  It’s a steal!

Zoya’s Blog describes the promotion in detail.  Basically, go to Zoya’s website and buy any nail polish and you’ll get a second of your choice FREE, NOW through 2/19/16 (11:59pm EST). Plus, get FREE Shipping on orders over $30!  Just use the promotion code: ZLOVE.

I love their polish.  Of course, I also worship Zoya’s Remove Plus (nail polish remover).  I received two huge containers for Christmas.  Best present ever.

Okay – so check out Zoya!  Show them some love and save some $$$$.

OPI – Hello Kitty!!

The OPI Hello Kitty Collection is amazing!!  And I mean, AMAZING!!   As you may realize, I adore a good pink polish, and this collection has more than a few!  Plus, a few other great colors.  Plus… c’mon, how cute are these bottles?

Aren’t this bottles sooo cute?  The little Hello Kitty wrap on the handle is a nice touch!!

The collection has some great pinks, but also, get a load of this red polish!!

5 Apples Tall, for those of us who don’t follow Hello Kitty lore, is actually the answer to the burning question, “How tall is Hello Kitty?”

The color is a fabulous glossy red, that almost looks good on my fish belly white fingers.  I added a little stamping from my UberChic stamping plate Love & Marriage – 01.

pix1I really liked this manicure.  I had more than a few people comment on it, and that always makes me feel great!

The pinks are what really took my breath away!  And boy, oh boy, are they gorgeous!!

I started with Here is Lets Be Friends,  a baby pink creme that needed three thin coats to be perfection!  And I am a three coat lady, so no problem!

The I took out my TwinkledT heart stencils.  I used an entire vinyl on my ring finger and only used a corner on my three other fingers with Look at my Bow.

What do you think?  Not too bad!!

I have nearly all the Hello Kitty polishes, and I will try to play with them all!!

Chase that damn Unicorn!!

Now, just because I was not posting photos and blogging while my nails were growing back from my ‘nub all the nails’ fit… that did not mean I was not shopping for nail polish!!  C’mon ladies!!  Do I have a pulse?  I am buying polish!!

I saw this color online and I had a mini stroke.

Say hello to Chasing a Unicorn, a new polish from Colors by llarowe.

I love these delicate holo polishes!!  Don’t get me wrong, I like those punch you in the face holos that cannot be ignored, but I really cannot help but be drawn toward these more delicate colors…

Now, this polish has a base coat that comes with it.  The base is a simple white crelly that actually reminds me of Loaded Lacquer’s Coconut.

I wore one coat of the base coat, and I did two coats of the polish.

Now, if I had an aversion to VNL (visible nail line) I would have applied a third color coat.  But I was okay with a visible nail line.

I topped my polish is Love, Angeline’s quick dry top coat – Topped with Love.

Side note: Love, Angeline is on a break right now.  According to their website, they should be back in the end of January.  I hope to see them back, I really enjoy their polishes!!

Why I love Bliss Kiss Simply Pure™ Hydrating Nail Oil!

Nothing like a retail job combined with a few holidays to really screw up my nails!!  And, to add insult to injury we had inventory the week after Christmas!!  All this equaled nails that had been to hell and back!!

It was time to break out my Bliss Kiss Simply Pure™ Hydrating Nail Oil!!  This oil is the most important factor in helping me maintain any nail growth.   I decided a new year, deserves new nails, so I CUT the hell out of my nails.  I mean, nubs!!  Short nubs!

And, it was time for my poor little nubs to go naked!!  I followed Ana’s awesome instructions as detailed on Ana’s nail care website.

1 5 2016 leftOn January 1, I cut my nails down to nothing, and did my three day naked session.  I oiled the crap out of them, and as the days went on, I needed to oil my nails less and less.  By the end of the three days, my cuticles looked better, but I had lost some nail growth.  Don’t panic!

If you have really dry nails like me, you will lose some length during the three naked days!

1 12 2016 left

Don’t freak out!!  The length I lost was ‘poor quality’ at best.

Second week… Look at my fabulous cuticles!!

Now, I do not have much growth, but the growth I had was healthy!

Week Three: Now, I am feeling it!!

Look at the length on these puppies!!

Now, very important… while these photos I am only wearing nail oil, I CONSTANTLY WORE NAIL POLISH DURING THIS MONTH!

1 26 2016 left inside

As great as Pure Nail Oil by Bliss Kiss is, you must wear nail polish if you want your nails to grow.  Ana’s website explains this much better than I can…

And here is week four!!

I am so pleased with the growth of my nails.

Let’s look at Cindy…

My right hand takes much abuse!!  I tend to keep the nails a little shorter than my left.

I like the length of both hands right now, and I do not know if I will let my nails get much longer, because I can manage this length without much upkeep.

But oiling my nails is so easy!  I keep my pens all over the place.

When I change my polish, I try to take the time to do a mini hot oil treatment (I drop my pen into a cup of hot water).  I got this suggestion from Mr. Doug Schoon!!  This is particularly important for those ladies with dry and flaking nails.

Remember – keep your digits painted with some sort of polish (at least two coats) and keep oiling your nails and cuticles!!  You won’t regret it!
